AI-powered Gap Analyses and Recommendations
Role: Principal
Concept, market reasearch, and prototype development. UX, UI, and visual design. AI prompt engineering, technical architecture and development. Marketing, sales, customer service.
The Challenge
Founders and startups have limited resources, a short window of opportunity to get to market, and a difficult time explaining their vision. As a result, they waste time, money, and emotional capital trying to explain themselves to people who are not their customers.
AI tools are flooding the startup ecosystem. AI has become the new PowerPoint for pitch decks: suddenly everyone looks like a pro, even when their business idea is full of holes. AI systems promise a variety of support, from pitch decks to funding, but then prey on the founders' need for support—giving them validation instead of feedback, cross selling them on services they don't need, wasting precious time and resources.
PitchToLaunch.com is the AI tool for founders I wish I had twenty years ago. It provides constructive feedback in a safe and supportive environment, without taking advantqge of the founders' optimism and lack of resources.
The Approach
Six months of interviews with founders, investors, and startups provided a list of 30+ investor requirements. This was condensed into 15 questions, written to be engaging and approachable, and presented one at a time.
The user's responses are collected and displyed for review, using concise abbreviations of the questions (to reduce token costs with the LLM).
Ethical guardrails in the prompts, UX/UI controls, and an inexpensive paywall further reduce the risk of bad actors exploiting the system for unintended purposes.
I daisy chained API calls to a dozen distinct LLM assistants, each with its own personality and responsibilities. Advanced prompt engineering maintains context and an encouraging voice and tone, and reduces drift and redundancy from one prompt-and-response to the next.
The Result
It doesn't spit out a pretty pitch deck. The system reviews the responses from the founder, and returns a 10+ page gap analysis with recommendations to help them address issues, prepare to talk to investors, and go to market with confidence.
The voice and tone are engineered to be encouraging and constructive. The responses praise the vision and work done so far, and then describe the benefits of incremental improvement.
